Retake Freedom

Time to exam for high school entrance, the day before I went my aunt’s house, where is one of the city, and near the high school.
So early morning my mother and me went my aunt’s house and early evening slept.

Following day I had nervous and went school with some books. It was so big campus and buildings.

when we were wait for exam with tensely at the one classroom, the moment teacher entered with our testing paper. She was tall, her nose was high, her face was very white and had no smile, her eyes of pupil were very glittered, and pershaps she was a very strict person maybe she disguised herself so that students were not cheating.

After read the questions from the papers, I took out correct answers from my memorization. But not only some questions were clear to answer and but also some questions were not clear only whirled in my thought. I satisfied some subjects but math and music were lower grade.
After finish the exam, I come back aunt’s house then I did not eat and cried under the blanket in the darkness room. I put the blanket whole my body. i thoughts i will be a failure the exam.
My brother encouraged me “ that is okay if you will fail, you will try again next year!” But that’s sound could not power to my heart.

Following day mother and me went back home, the school policy had schedule to be announce successful candidates after one month. so I waited the day.

One day when I washed my clothes at the late afternoon with turn on radio for listen to drama then,
Suddenly a radio announcer said “now I am going to announce who are pass the entrance exam for Mokpo Woman’s High School.” O! my God! Why early? Now? My heart went pit-a-pat.
She reported the success’ numbers; 1,3,5,,7,10,15,27,30,31, ....38, ..100…….200,……..300,……400…..402…405,..407,...420,.. 425,..430,431!
431? (Shouting). I doubted my ear 431! I was jump, running, and shouting and I went hurried up to my daddy. A clothes container was upside down and my clothes were living, water was overflowing with soap bubbles.
Daddy ! Daddy! I pass the exam, I am going to fly on the sky ! Daddy!
